Understanding Quantus

What is Quantus (QTC)?

Quantus (QTC) is a Layer 1 blockchain built to stay secure once large quantum computers exist. It runs on the Substrate framework and signs every transaction with ML-DSA, the post-quantum signature scheme standardized through the NIST post-quantum cryptography program: ML-DSA-65 by default and ML-DSA-87 for a higher security level. New blocks come from permissionless Proof of Work, and Quantus addresses start with qz.

How does Quantus mining work?

Quantus uses Quantum Proof of Work (QPoW), built on the Poseidon2 hash. The pool sends each miner a job, the miner searches for nonces on its GPU, and every result that meets its share difficulty is submitted as a share. The network targets one block about every 12 seconds and adjusts its difficulty to hold that pace.

Why mine Quantus?

Quantus is mined on NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards, and there is no ASIC for its algorithm. 73% of the maximum supply is reserved for mining, there is no developer tax on mining rewards, and the short block time means pool rewards build up in small, frequent steps.

Tokenomics and emission

The maximum supply is 21,000,000 QTC. 27% (5,670,000 QTC) was created at genesis for investors, founders, the team and the company, mostly locked for a year and then released linearly over three years; 1% of the supply was available at launch for initial liquidity. The other 73% (15,330,000 QTC) is mined. There are no halvings: every block pays the remaining unmined supply divided by 50,000,000, so the reward started near 0.31 QTC and shrinks a little with every block, about 5% of what is left per year at the 12-second target. Miners also collect the transaction fees of every block they find.

Getting started with Quantus

First you need a Quantus wallet address, which starts with qz. Next, download a miner that supports the quantus algorithm, such as PeakMiner, SRBMiner-Multi, BzMiner or WildRig NG, point it at your closest HeroMiners server with your address as the username, and start mining. Our How to Mine guide has ready-made command lines and per-region connection details.

Built for the post-quantum era

Post-quantum signatures
Every transaction is signed with ML-DSA-65 or ML-DSA-87, signature schemes designed to resist attacks from quantum computers.
GPU Proof of Work
Blocks come from permissionless QPoW mining on the Poseidon2 hash, run on ordinary NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards.
Optional privacy
Wormhole addresses use zero-knowledge proofs to support private transfers on the same chain as ordinary ones.
Fixed supply
21 million QTC in total, 73% of it reserved for miners, with no developer tax on mining rewards.

Quantus emission curve

Total supply by block height, from the 5.67 million QTC genesis allocation toward the 21 million QTC cap. Each block pays 1/50,000,000 of the unmined supply, so there are no halvings and the reward shrinks smoothly. 100 million blocks is about 38 years at the 12-second target.

Frequently asked questions

Quantus is secured by Quantum Proof of Work (QPoW), built on the Poseidon2 hash. The pool sends your miner a job, your GPU searches for nonces, and every result that meets your share difficulty is submitted as a share and checked before it counts. The network aims for a block about every 12 seconds.
